Groundbreaking interfaith services held Sunday, August 24, 2008 were the first official event of the Democratic National Convention. Faith in Action Interfaith worship services began the event with message of unity and diversity. Speakers included Sister Helen Prejean, a Catholic nun, Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, who read from the Torah, and Dr. Ingrid Mattson, President of the Islamic Society of North America. Other speakers followed with Christian, Judaic, Islamic and Buddhist messages. This eclectic presentation of various faiths at the convention come amid our current Emotional 2nd Quarter that is manifesting in contemporary American religion.
